A Man Dressed Like Santa Was Living Inside My Hot Tub

A skateboard can have a lot of use especially the one I own. It can be a device for traveling and can have lots of meaning. It has a significance to what I usually do a lot of days. I will go and skate around areas that are good. Like a ledge, or a ramp, or even a curb. I will go skate to food places. The way I go through town is skating instead of other transportation. To skate around places is a lot more beneficial to do. Go anywhere with it. It is an artifact itself. It has a significance in every trick that you do. You can remember when you are at a certain spot and did tricks there and if you did it or not. It just has all of those things in it. When you go to spots you have been before you recall tricks you have attempted, also people who have done tricks there. Then if you go somewhere that you have not been to before it makes you think of all of the things to do there. It is awesome. I was at this school that almost gives a sense of being far away from town. Skateboarding there was fun because I had not been there before. At the school they have benches. So after a while I started trying things on this bench. I tried some things on it, not really trying that hard to do anything. I kept skating it though. I started trying a different trick and thought that I might be able to land it.  Then I started to fall and realized I was getting closer and closer to it.  That's when I started trying to do it more committingly.  After seeing that I was getting closer to landing it, my amigos thought it would be a good idea to film me landing this extraordinary trick.  I had brought my camera just in case there was something that needed to be filmed like most times we skate.  So once I started getting the trick filmed, it seemed that it was much more difficult than it had felt before we started filming.  This trick had seemed unreachable.

I would try the trick repeatedly trying to get as much tries in as possible.  I would throw my board on the ground just before jumping on it to roll up to the bench.  Once approaching it to do the trick, I would hear the button on the camera pressed knowing that it was recording.  It starts to get tiring after trying the trick multiple times without stopping.  Even though it was starting to get exhausting, I was getting more familiar in attempting this trick.  My friend who was filming would tell me, "you only have 15 minutes of battery, so land it soon."  Which would add on to the frustration of landing the trick.  Then what seemed like no time at all, he would tell me, "10 minutes left."  Then it turned into "5 minutes left."  After just about 10 tries, the battery eventually ran out.  I was not expecting this trick to take such a large amount of time.

Now after trying this trick for a while, I needed to find an outlet to charge the camera.  So now I will have to wait for the camera to charge to try the trick.  After trying repeatedly, I can go and sit down while the camera charges.  I found an outlet not too far from the bench, still at the school. I sat there and went through my pieces that pertained to the camera.  It is a nice video camera, it is a handycam.  There is a few lenses that I have that I was looking at.  One of them is a fish eye lens that is used for more up close filming.  In this case I was not getting the trick filmed up close which made it unnecessary to use.  I ended up not even using a lens on the camera instead it was filmed in a certain way called long lensing.  Filming long lens usually means you must be a large distance between the filmer and what is being filmed.  I waited for a while and looked at the camera battery on the display as it showed only half an hour of life which seemed like I sat there forever and it did not charge at all.  It was starting to get late which meant I had less time to keep attempting this trick.  So I got up, unplugged the video camera and needed to land it.

After I was ready to try it and was ready to get filmed, I started the whole repetitive process over of trying to land the trick soon.  I started out trying it again and it was like I had not tried it in days which made it seem a lot more difficult to get to the place where I was almost landing it.  I started to get to the point where it was just a few tries away.  Then I got on my skateboard as I rode up to the bench having a feeling that it was going to be the one that I landed.  I went for the trick and amazingly landed it.  The camera unfortunately did not get the look of the trick the way it was suppose to look.  I decided to land it again because of the way the trick was captured.  I attempted it a few more times and landed it pretty fast compared to the other attempts. It turned out I did not like the way it looked so I did it many more times.  Finally, I got the one I wanted.  I felt extremely accomplished and satisfied.  The skateboard can make you feel a sense of gratitude.  All of the tries and frustrations are worth the final outcome of landing it.  That is why the skateboard is considered to be an artifact on its own.  It is something to be appreciative of when you are on a skateboard.
